Map of UMaine Portfolio Assessment Process
As a way of contextualizing the portfolio assessment documents, I have created a map of the assessment process, which you can see to the right. You'll find the legend for the map by clicking the small red box (under the magnifying glass here) next to "Portfolio Assessment Rubric."
University of Maine. requires all students to complete English 101 or its equivalent. To successfully complete the course, ENG 101 students must submit a portfolio containing two academic essays and a “reflective introduction" (or, as of fall 2012, critical reflection). Students are also provided with the opportunity to complete a Challenge Exam to earn credit for the course without taking it. Students who do take ENG 101 and whose work fails the portfolio assessment are allowed to appeal that decision.
