For my final project, I am constructing a syllabus for a pilot ENG 1102 course that I will teach in the spring and, hopefully, research in the fall. My syllabus follows the Teaching for Transfer course designed by Liane Robertson and Kara Taczak, but, drawing from the work of this course, it incorporates more multimodal and open media projects, including a collaborative assignment in which students will trace key terms across various texts (much like our Wikipedia and Encyclopedia assignment). Students will also recursively compose a Wiki of the genres of writing they have and frequently do write in, and they’ll also recursively compose key terms maps. like the one above produced by a student in my spring 2013 English 101 course, using both print and digital media. Some of our course readings will include sections of Remix, “The Social Life of Paper,” Convergence Culture and, possibly, sections from Remediation.
